Anthony Albanese was one of the first people to reach out to Chris Hipkins and congratulate him ahead of being officially sworn in as New Zealand's new prime minister

Offer ends 31 October, 2023 > Mr Albanese confirmed he spoke to Mr Hipkins and said he held a “warm discussion” with the next prime minister. “There is a Labor Government in Australia and a Labour Government in New Zealand of course that means we’re going to have a good working relationship,” he said.
Ms Ardern stood down from the prime ministership on Thursday announcing she did not have the energy for another year and a potential four year term should Labour win the election later in the year.
