Airbnb already has a global party ban. but the company announced that it’s taking extra measures aimed at reducing the risk of disruptive and unauthorized parties.
The vacation rental company said it is taking an extra step during the upcoming holidays to implement a party prevention system and will block certain one-night and two-night reservations over both Memorial Day weekend and Fourth of July weekend for entire home listings. Last year the company said that nearly 200 people in Pennsylvania were deterred from booking entire home listings over Memorial Day weekend.Airbnb said that the anti-party system identifies certain potentially higher-risk one-night and two-night booking attempts by guests of entire home listings, and prevents those bookings from being made.
Airbnb says that guests who are able to make local reservations are required to attest that they understand Airbnb bans parties, and that if they break this rule, they may be subject to suspension or removal from the platform. “This anti-party system was piloted over Memorial Day weekend for the first time last year, and was in effect for the 2022 July 4 weekend—and we saw a decrease in reports of disruptive and unauthorized parties over both holidays,” the company said in a news release.
