AirAsia will be implementing new restrictions regarding the carrying and usage of power banks on its flights, effective 1 April 2025.
The airline joins other carriers that have previously announced similar measures, such as Batik Air, Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines, in adherence to new aviation safety standards.
As per the new guidelines shared by AirAsia on X, passengers are now required to bring their power banks in their carry-on bags, and must keep them on-person at all times - either underneath their seats or in the seat pockets. Storing it in their checked baggage, or in the overhead compartment is prohibited. Passengers are also prohibited from using or charging their power banks throughout the flight. Additionally, the power banks that can be brought on flight are dependent on its Wh rating.
