Air quality will pose a risk for those sensitive to increased air pollution in parts of central Ohio on Tuesday.
The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission said Tuesday’s Air Quality Index will rise to 102 for Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, and Licking counties. Above 100 on the scale is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups.
The last time the region experienced an unhealthy-for-sensitive-groups day was in August of 2010, the MORPC said. Part of what is contributing to the air pollution will be shifting winds carrying dense smoke from eastern Canadian wildfires into the region. Those winds are expected to continue Wednesday, which will help the air pollution disperse but also bring more smoke in, resulting in a high-moderate air quality score.
