KANGAR: The Aidilfitri prayers throughout the state are encouraged to be performed in open fields (musollas), with the timing coordinated to begin between 7:45 am and 8:15 am, depending on the decision of each congregation's committee. The Raja Muda of Perlis , Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, decreed that each congregation committee should ensure that announcements regarding the chosen prayer time are effectively disseminated for coordination among the congregation members.
The selection of open fields is subject to the decisions of each mosque's congregation committee throughout the state, according to His Highness, who also serves as the President of the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs). “This implementation aligns with the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad. However, the Congregation Committee can consider using the space inside the mosque if there is a need, depending on the space and the number of congregants present,” His Highness decreed. Tuanku Syed Faizuddin stated that the implementation of Aidilfitri prayers other than at the musollas determined by the Congregation Committee, such as official suraus within the state, should also be referred to the Mosque Congregation Committee and receive the approval of the Perlis Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JAIPs). His Highness further decreed that if weather conditions are unfavorable, the Aidilfitri prayers will be performed inside the respective mosque congregations at 8:15 am, and announcements regarding the change of location must be announced by the Mosque Congregation Committee at 7:45 am. “For the implementation of Aidilfitri prayers in the Kota Raja Arau Congregation, the prayers will be performed at the Istiadat Arau Palace Square at 8 am, and if the weather conditions are unfavorable, the prayers will be held in the prayer space of the Arau State Mosque,” His Highness decreed. Tuanku Syed Faizuddin also decreed that mosque management should implement procedures related to the implementation of Aidilfitri prayers, such as the recitation of the takbir (praise to God), the manner of prayer, the Aidilfitri sermon, and so on, by referring to the guidelines issued by the State Mufti's Department. His Highness advised the congregation to bring their own prayer mats and perform ablutions from home, while also taking care of their health by wearing face masks for those with health conditions. “Indeed, I have high hopes that all the stipulations that have been outlined will always be upheld and adhered to with full commitment by all the beloved people,” His Highness decreed.\This directive emphasizes the importance of a coordinated and standardized approach to the Aidilfitri prayers in Perlis, ensuring that the religious practice is carried out in a manner that respects both Islamic tradition and practical considerations.
