The Ministry of Education's Student Tracking System (SiPKPM), enhanced with artificial intelligence, is expected to significantly reduce student dropout and absenteeism rates among SPM candidates. The system has already shown promising results, decreasing absent SPM candidates from tens of thousands to just over 8,000.

The Ministry of Education 's Student Tracking System (SiPKPM), now enhanced with artificial intelligence (AI), is projected to contribute to a decrease in student dropout and absenteeism among Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates in the future.

Education deputy director-general (Profession Development Sector), Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad, stated that the system, which has been operational, has already succeeded in reducing the number of absent SPM candidates from tens of thousands to just over 8,000. \'This system aids in identifying students who have dropped out or are at risk, spanning from primary to secondary school. Last year, we implemented an AI-enhanced version, which is currently in operation. It supports teachers and school leaders in detecting at-risk students, enabling timely interventions,' he shared during a press conference following the 'Bual Bicara Pendidikan Asas Kenegaraan: Membina Generasi Mampan Masa Hadapan' program with Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul today. Dr Mohd Azam further added that the upgraded system will empower schools to provide earlier and more precise interventions. \'The Ministry of Education offers 18 forms of assistance for students at risk of dropping out, encompassing those facing financial difficulties and other challenges. The ministry, in collaboration with State Education Departments and District Education Offices, will determine the most appropriate intervention,' he said. In a written response published on the official Parliament website yesterday, the Ministry of Education reported that as of February 6, a total of 8,076 candidates for the 2024 SPM examination had been absent for all written papers
