Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim emphasizes AI's potential in healthcare cost reduction and efficiency while attending the World Economic Forum in Davos. He highlights the importance of infrastructure and data digitization for successful AI implementation.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized that the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into healthcare systems holds immense potential for cost reduction and efficiency enhancement. He highlighted these aspects as key priorities since assuming office, stating that it would be unjust to deny a significant portion of the population access to the best healthcare facilities.
Anwar stressed the pivotal role of AI in bolstering hospital infrastructure and delivering advanced technology, emphasizing its ability to not only improve efficiency but also curb expenditure. During a 'Country Strategy Dialogue' session at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2025 in Davos, Switzerland, Anwar responded to a participant's query regarding his vision for AI in public healthcare. Minister of Digital, Gobind Singh Deo, who was also present at the session, underscored the need for robust and appropriate infrastructure to effectively leverage AI in healthcare. He pointed out the abundance of healthcare data, much of which remains in analog format, requiring swift digitization and efficient sharing mechanisms. Gobind Singh Deo envisions AI as a tool to address past challenges and pave the way for a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem. Anwar's current three-day working visit to Davos marks his first attendance at the WEF since becoming Prime Minister in 2022
