Australia’s workforce needs to “harness our older people” in the community, according to Council on the Ageing CEO Patricia Sparrow. “Ageism hurts us all,” she told Sky News Australia. “We’ve got a lot of people who want to work, but as a result of ageism and it's one in three recruiters won’t consider employing someone over the age of 50,” she told Sky News Australia. “People (are) sometimes forced into early retirement. “We really need to make sure that employers are open to employing older workers.”
