The Simon Ekpa-led Biafra Republic Government In-Exile has again threatened that it will shut down offices of the Nigerian government in the South-East if it failed to release its leader, Mazi Nnandi Kanu.
DAILY POST recalls that in 2021, Kanu was arrested and has been detained by the Nigerian government despite a heightened call by lawmakers and other political leaders for his release. It is also one of the demands listed by the EndBadGovernance protesters across the country. In a statement on his official X handle on Saturday, Ekpa , who is known as the Prime Minister of Biafra Government , also demanded the demilitarisation of the region and the acceptance of the Biafra Referendum.
'The Biafra government is ready to close down all Nigeria government houses and offices within Biafra territory for a month. “The details of the shutdown will be announced during the next State of the Union address. 'Our demands are as follows: Withdrawal of all Nigeria's security forces from all Biafra land; 'Accept the Biafra Self Referendum, which has recorded over 49 million votes. 'Release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and other Biafra political prisoners.
