“The stress of furloughing a lot of our team because there wasn’t anything to do was the worst part,” Carr says. “These men and women gave a Herculean effort to build up inventory and then help us move. And having your fate in the hands of entities and faceless people with the city that don’t know who you are is pretty dark. There were times when we almost didn’t make it through all this.”

“We were already behind the eight-ball,” Carr says. “We were relieved to finally have them, yes, but there was a sense of, ‘It’s already too late,’ and we were faced with a lot of catch-up and installing everything at the same time. We also had to still pay rent on a space that we couldn’t move into or monetize.”
