Rayburn blanks Milby for a second straight year after 20-0 verdict

Braxton had himself a stellar night in helping the team blank Milby for a second straight year.With Sam Rayburn’s offense needing a little charge to get the Texans out of a scoreless funk, a 30-minute lightning delay apparently provided it.
“They stepped up to the challenge. I challenged them all week. We had to step up some kind of way and they stepped up with a shutout. We had a couple of self-inflicted wounds, giving them first downs, but other than one drive they were three-and-out, three-and-out,” Gonzalez said. Other defensive stars included Zerrick Braxton, who knocked down a third-down pass, Leon Anderson recovering a fumble after a Texans punt that led to the team’s first touchdown in their home stadium and dandy tackles for losses by Joseph Duron and Jermaine Calvin.
Then came Anderson’s fumble recovery and that sparked the team’s opening touchdown. With the clock working against the Texans, Rayburn went to the air for pass completions of six, five and 23 yards for the six points as Gonzalo Zapata hauled in the toss from Nava with just 21 seconds remaining.
