BN senator Khairul Azwan Harun has called on MACC chief Latheefa Koya to resign following the release of phone recordings, one of which has him mentioned by name.
said the move of playing the recordings to the media was reprehensible, and as such Latheefa must resign to safeguard the MACC's integrity and image.
"Further, without prejudice to my statement in this paragraph, I urge all MPs to refer Latheefa to a Parliament Select Committee for damaging MACC's good name and credibility," he added in a statement today.Azwan's name had cropped up in the 2016 recording of Rosmah Mansor's conversation with Najib Razak when they were discussing then MACC chief Abu Kassim Mohamed.
Azwan, in his statement today, denied any involvement in the management of 1MDB and SRC, as well as any conspiracy which the MACC alleged happened. Latheefa had said the recordings raised serious questions about"abuse of power, criminal conspiracy, obstruction of justice, compromising national security, fabrication of false evidence through foreign aid and connivance."
