Judge orders the National Registration Department to issue a MyKad to the girl who was born to a Malaysian father and Filipino mother.

The girl’s father Lew Yee Hong with lawyers Annou Xavier and Larrisa Ann Louis at the Kuala Lumpur High Court earlier this year.

High Court judge Faizah Jamaludin allowed the 13-year-old’s judicial review application and ordered the National Registration Department to issue her a MyKad. At the last hearing, the government said decisions to reject a citizenship application cannot be reviewed in court.
