APRM Africa Throws Weight Behind Local Rating Agencies dailynewstz: Africa

AFRICA Peer Review Mechanism is strengthening a network of regulators as the continent seeks to take action on negative ratings by overseas firms which are adversely affecting Africa's economies.

In his presentation, Dr Misheck also asked why ratings in Africa are not reflective of its high economic growth during Pre-Covid-19 and why agencies were quick to downgrade Africa before the fundamentals set in during Covid-19 pandemic. According to him, a number of governments, international organisations, including the rating agencies, concur with observations on the regular factual inaccuracies and omission in the overseas firms' ratings.
