The North Melbourne footballer’s licence was suspended when he drove his car on Christmas Eve last year after he broke up with his partner, a court has heard.
North Melbourne midfielder Tarryn Thomas has been fined for getting behind the wheel while his driver’s licence was suspended following a relationship break-up.
“He gave his car to his partner to drive. He was at her property on Christmas Eve. It became apparent that their relationship was over, and Mr Trindall has to return to his property. He packed up his things, he popped them in his car and he made the foolish decision to drive that vehicle home,” Vardy said.
Vardy argued that her client’s sentence should be lessened as he fell “on his sword effectively immediately” when police pulled him over. The court also heard that Thomas, who lives in Ormond, needed a driver’s licence to perform his role as a professional athlete for the North Melbourne Football Club.
