The AFL has confirmed it will investigate the recent management of Carlton forward Harry McKay. McKay was named in the team to face Port Adelaide on Friday night after a concussion drama in the previous week, but he was then a sudden out before the clash at Marvel Stadium. In the previous game against North Melbourne, McKay appear to be dazed by a head knock and Carlton was in hot water for not immediately taking him from the field to have him assessed.
The league sent the Blues a ‘please explain’ following that incident. He was cleared by the medical team and named for the clash against the Power, only to be struck down by illness. There was some speculation the head injury and the illness were linked and now the AFL is looking into it. “Confirmation from the AFL they will make further inquiries today around Harry McKay’s diagnosis and management during the week after his notable concussion test last week,” 7NEWS chief AFL reporter said.
