Adult joblessness in the Philippines decreased to 19% in March this year from the 21.3% recorded in December 2022, the latest Social Weather Stations survey showed on Wednesday. | FArgosinoINQ

According to SWS, 19 percent of the labor force, or 8.7 million adult Filipinos, were jobless as of March. This figure is 2.3 percentage points — or 900,000 — below the 21.3% — or 9.6 million — figure reported in December last year.The survey was conducted from March 26 to 29 using face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adults nationwide — 300 each in Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Based on the results, the Labor Force Participation Rate, or a portion of employed adults, is 62.4 percent or 45.9 million.
