White supremacist groups spread more propaganda in Texas than any other state in 2022, according to a report released Thursday by the Anti-Defamation League.
The state accounted for 527 incidents of propaganda — including the distribution of hateful fliers, posters and banners, and public events hosted by white supremacists — out of a nationwide total of 6,751. The Texas figures represented a 61% increase from 2021.

The report demonstrates that white supremacists who are facing increased online content moderation and scrutiny are continuing to seek real-world, public and low-tech methods to spread hate. Pictures of the fliers or posters are often posted online by concerned residents or media outlets, inadvertantly amplifying the groups’ hateful messages.
One Texas-based hate group, Patriot Front, was responsible for 80% of propaganda distributions counted by the ADL. The group sets quotas for members to distribute literature, the ADL said, which could help explain Texas’ outsized place in the nationwide tally. The group was formed in the Dallas suburbs in 2017. Its manifesto calls for the formation of a white ethnostate in the United States, and one of its founders, Thomas Ryan Rousseau, is from Grapevine.while trying to disrupt a pride event in Idaho.
