Local musicians say restrictions on a Rundle Mall busking zone has cut off their main source of income.
abc.net.au/news/adelaide-busker-rules-rundle-mall-hit-performers-incomes/102851118For several years, busking has been Adelaide musician Damon Satanik's main source of income — but he is rethinking his career options due to new rules restricting buskers from a prime CBD location.
"If you don't get a slot within that, you pretty much aren't able to make a living off busking — and even then, you're struggling." Executive manager Andrew White said Rundle Mall and the City of Adelaide "regularly reviewed" busking locations. Adelaide's Economic Development Agency has not revealed why part of Rundle Mall has been closed off to buskers.
"If Rundle Mall did something similar with that main pitch, then they shouldn't have any issues in terms of noise and quality of the act," he said.
