A decade after his major triumph at Augusta, Adam Scott kicks off this year's Masters with a 4-under-par 68, including an eagle.
abc.net.au/news/adam-scott-best-masters-first-round-augusta/102200378Adam Scott has hit his first sub-70 round at Augusta since 2019 — his best-ever Masters first round — to sit high on the leaderboard after the opening day in Georgia.
A decade after winning the green jacket, the Australian carded an eagle, three birdies and a bogey on the last that would have left him with a sour taste in his mouth, despite finishing with a 4-under-par 68. That was good enough for his best round at the Masters since the second round four years ago, when he also carded a 68 before finishing with 72 and 73 to end up 18th overall.
Scott almost chipped in from a bunker to eagle the second hole, but managed to putt for his first birdie of the round. Meanwhile, Norway's Viktor Hovland did eagle the second to kick off a sensational round of 7-under 65. He was the early leader, alongside Spain's Jon Rahm, who recovered from a first-hole double bogey with seven birdies and an eagle. LIV Golf's Brooks Koepka also joined them on 7-under with an eight-birdie, one-bogey round.

Aussies opt for cheaper Easter holidays amid cost-of-living pressuresMany Australians are opting for cheaper ways to spend their holidays this Easter as “around 60 per cent” of people will be staying home, says Tourism and Transport Forum CEO Margy Osmond. “But staying home may mean travelling in their own state and having some great other experiences,” she told Sky News Australia. “It’s just not the same as going away. “I do think that the cost-of-living issue is starting to bite, and people did spend up big over the summer holidays and they’re just taking it a little easier this time around. “The big winners out of that are obviously going to be a whole range of regional communities.”
