Greens Leader Adam Bandt has warned his party will block emissions-reduction legislation unless new coal and gas projects are stopped.
This is despite the consumer watchdog suggesting more investment is needed into gas fields to avoid energy shortfalls along the east coast this winter.
The Greens’ push against the legislation follows BHP’s announcement it may bring forward the closure of its Mount Arthur Hunter Valley coalmine.
