Academy Award-nominated actress Felicity Huffman is expected to appear in Boston federal court to plead guilty to a charge stemming from the massive 'Varsity Blues' college entrance scandal.

Academy Award-nominated actress Felicity Huffman is expected to appear in Boston federal court Monday to plead guilty to a charge stemming from the massive "Varsity Blues" college entrance scandal that ensnared dozens of parents nationwide who prosecutors say lied and bribed to get their children into elite schools.

The actress -- famous for her Academy Award-nominated role in the 2005 movie"Transamerica" and for playing one of the main characters in the ABC television show"Desperate Housewives" -- allegedly gave $15,000 to William"Rick" Singer, who prosecutors identified as the ringleader of the nationwide scam,"to participate in the college entrance exam cheating scheme on behalf of their oldest daughter," court documents allege.

On March 13, federal prosecutors announced that 50 wealthy people, including chief executive officers of major companies and a partner in a New York City law firm, were charged in the largest college cheating scam ever prosecuted by the U.S. Department of Justice. Loughlin, 54, and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, 55, allegedly agreed to pay Singer"bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team -- despite the fact that they did not participate in crew -- thereby facilitating their admission to USC," according to the indictment.
