CHICAGO—Actor Jussie Smollett was indicted Tuesday on six counts of disorderly conduct by local authorities for faking a hate crime against himself, nearly a year after similar charges were dismissed.
A grand jury indicted Mr. Smollett on the charges including making false claims to police about the alleged incident. The new charges were presented by a special prosecutor named last year to reinvestigate the case after a 16-count indictment against the former “Empire” star was dismissed.
