Actor Dean Cain will be the host Friday for the red-carpet premiere of a new movie based on a Jacksonville camp for troubled kids.
Jacksonville actor Dean Phillippi, who plays a parent in the film, said the studio is already working on another film,"Cancel Me Not," which will be filmed in Jacksonville.
"We need to bring the movie industry back here to Jacksonville, in a faith-based process," Phillippi said. The film follows four families that bring their troubled children to the camp."Success Camp" is fictional, but fact-based, Phillippi said. The camp deals with troubled kids from around the country who are either sentenced by a judge or brought in by their families. Phillippi said that while researching his role, he met an 8-year-old who was sent to the camp after burning down his home and stealing a car. Kids might stay for a month or more at the camp and parents are expected to be on hand for at least the first weekend so they can learn how to deal with their children.
