Actor Along Cham (Muhammad Nizamudin Ahmad) pleaded not guilty to a charge of possessing cannabis weighing approximately 58.23 grams in Cyberjaya. Despite his plea for bail, Judge Ahmad Fuad Othman denied the request, stating the case was not bailable. Cham faces a potential sentence of life imprisonment or not less than five years, along with at least 10 strokes of the cane.
This was the plea of actor Along Cham after Judge Ahmad Fuad Othman did not allow the accused to be granted bail on Friday, reported Sinar Harian.
If found guilty, the accused could face between five years jail and life imprisonment, as well a minimum of 10 strokes of the cane. The charge is made under Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which is punishable under Section 39A of the same act, carrying a sentence of life imprisonment or not less than five years, and whipping of not less than 10 strokes, if convicted.
