A magnitude 4.8 tremor hit Abra’s Bucay town on Friday afternoon. | GabrielLaluINQ

Based on the latest bulletins from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology , the earthquake Friday was located one kilometer off Bucay’s center, at a depth of 17 kilometers.Phivolcs explicitly stated that the movement was an aftershock of the Northwestern Luzon earthquake that brought huge destruction in Abra, other provinces in the Cordillera Administrative Region , and areas in Ilocos Region and Cagayan Valley.

It said that Friday’s temblor registered Intensity IV in Abra’s Bucay, San Quintin, and Bangued towns; Intensity III in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur; and Intensity I in Sinait also in Ilocos Sur.
