Above & Beyond release its upbeat cover of the familiar hit, one that stays true to the song's spirit while adding a touch of trance magic.
do its thing? Any serious dane music fan knows New Order's 1986 classic "Blue Monday." It's a cross-generational staple, played in DJ sets around the world by underground and mainstream favorites alike. Now, fellow British trio Above & Beyond release its own version of the familiar hit, one that stays true to the song's spirit while adding a touch of trance magic.
The cover debuted back in 2013 at a concert in London, and the official release helps mark 20 years of the group's label Anjunabeats. Some say the third Monday in January is the most depressing, which is where the term "Blue Monday" originates. Nothing is sad about the driving rhythm A&B adds, so let it ring loud and lively all winter long.
Above & Beyond aren't nearly the first to cover the famous single. Orgy had its biggest hit with a very '90s rendition. Noise rockers Health covered the song in 2017, as did psychedelic electronica lovers Rabbit in the Moon in 2010.
