PR spinners at the ABC have attempted to discredit reports of crisis control board talks after its star TV political correspondent Laura Tingle labelled Peter Dutton "dangerous" and called Australia a racist country.
Under the ABC charter, journalists are prohibited from taking sides on political issues and must strive for impartiality., declaring in March journalists who breach this principle should leave the public broadcaster.“I really think this is a very serious issue.” "Regardless of whether policies make sense, and I would say they don't make coherent sense in what he has put out in this Budget Reply, the hot buttons he is pressing there are very dangerous for our community,” she told ABC audiences.
Ms Tingle said after listening to the Liberal leader's budget reply, aside from a terrible chill, she"had this sudden flash of people turning up to try and rent a property or at an auction and they look a bit different – whatever you define different as – that basically has given them licence to be abused, and in any circumstance where people feel like they’re missing out".
However, despite the ensuing political firestorm which followed Ms Tingle’s numerous problematic comments, the ABC claims board members have not been discussing the issue.that some board members had held “emergency talks” over the controversy.
