PETALING JAYA: National men's doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik's good run in the Singapore Open came to an end when they went down fighting 21-16, 15-21, 17-21 to China's Liang Weikeng-Wang Chang in the semi-finals at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Saturday (June 6).
Aaron-Wooi Yik started the match well by leading 7-0 and wrapped up the first game but could not continue their fine performance.
The Chinese pair, who won the Thailand Open last week, refused to give up and came back strongly to win the next two games. It was world No. 4 Aaron-Wooi Yik's fourth defeat to world No. 3 Weikeng-Wang Chang in their past five meetings.Meanwhile, mixed doubles pair and world No. 21 Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei also bowed out after narrowly losing 17-21, 22-24 to Japan's world No. 3 Yuta Watanabe-Arisa Higashino.
