PETALING JAYA: Tributes have been pouring in after the historic triumph of doubles pair Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik at the world badminton championships.

“This is also the first time Malaysia’s representatives have won the badminton world championships and is indeed a great gift to all Malaysians in conjunction with our independence day,” he said in a Facebook post on Sunday . Earlier, the world No 6 pair created history by securing a superb 21-19, 21-14 victory over Indonesia's three-time world champions Mohd Ahsan-Hendra Setiawan at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.
