ave tapped the help of ZOE TV, ABS-CBN and its A2Z channel in broadcasting all the games live especially with the league reverting back to its 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. pre-pandemic game schedule beginning the 48th Season which fires off Nov. 5.Commissioner Willie Marcial and TV5 president Guido Zaballero made the announcement during the PBA press conference at the Diamond Hotel on Tuesday, Oct. 17, as part of their bid to reach more audiences and further strengthen the league.
“As part of support of TV5 to strengthen ‘yung goals ng PBA, we have in fact brought in two more partners to head this. The first one is ZOE TV and the other one is ABS-CBN. So ang bagong tahanan ng PBA will now be A2Z,” said Zaballero. TV5 and Cignal will continue to produce games as the deal between the networks was only a"content supplying agreement" although the move, according to Zaballero, would be beneficial to the PBA which they felt already needed to have a dedicated free TV channel.
TV5, meanwhile, is now focusing on entertainment, delivering programs produced by ABS-CBN while delayed telecast of PBA games will still be aired on One Sports.“Doon na po sa A2Z ang PBA to ensure na moving forward, we will be able to also build on even ‘yung mga other games ng PBA kasi dedicated timeslot na po ‘yan sa A2Z,” said Zaballero.
The move allowed the PBA to revert back to its original scheduling of 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for the first game and 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the second game – a move that is in line with the PBA’s goal of bringing back the league’s status to where it was before the pandemic.
