On Monday, the “excessive heat” caused the asphalt on about four miles of a roadway loop in Crockett, a city about 112 miles east of Waco, to “bleed,” according to the Texas Department of Transportation in Lufkin.
While Loop 304 didn’t close, it slowed traffic in the area between Texas 21 and Texas 7 as workers applied lime water to treat the road, TxDOT said. Temperatures hovered around 100 degrees in Crockett on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
