Unexpected crop failure from the spring chili harvest is one factor behind the upcoming Sriracha shortage.
The Southern California-based company warned distributors in April that"an even more severe shortage of chilies was taking place due to severe weather conditions affecting the quality of the peppers," CNN reported.only deepens the short supply of chili peppers experienced by Huy Fong Foods, which also sources its peppers from New Mexico and Mexico.
