Cuc “Mama Cue” Roberts shows off a giant baked potato order at Cue’s Hamburgers on Friday, March 10, 2023.The restaurant has been a dream come true for 71-year-old owner Cuc T. Roberts, known as Mama Cue. She immigrated from Vietnam after marrying an American soldier during the Vietnam War. They first lived in Ohio, but she left and took her two children to Texas in 1980.
Those officers gave her six picnic tables and one helped her with the funds to start Cue's, becoming a partner for a brief time. In 1988, Roberts opened Cue’s Burgers. Her relationship with the Houston police force was natural as her father was a police officer back in Vietnam. Plus, she said she feels a debt of gratitude to the Houston officers who helped her open her restaurant.
