A Simple Favor 2 is looking to start filming in Fall 2023, with the sequel taking place in Capri, Italy.
The filming start and location of A Simple Favor 2 have been revealed. Released in 2018, A Simple Favor is based on Darcey Bell’s novel of the same name and follows Stephanie Smothers , a widowed single mother and vlogger, as she tries to solve the mystery of her new friend, Emily Nelson’s disappearance.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY In one of the first updates since A Simple Favor 2 was confirmed, a source has relayed to PEOPLE that the comedy crime-thriller is set to commence production in fall 2023, roughly five years after the release of the first film. Additionally, unlike the first movie, which was marked by an American suburbia setting, A Simple Favor 2 will take place and shoot in Capri, Italy.
A Simple Favor ends with Stephanie outsmarting Emily, who is sentenced to twenty years in prison for the murder of her twin sister. Sean later becomes a best-selling author and UC Berkeley professor, while Stephanie’s vlog gains a million followers, and she starts part-time private detective work. A Simple Favor 2 will likely center around Stephanie, once again at odds with Emily, who presumably has somehow escaped her sentence — how exactly they end up in Italy remains to be seen.
Another mystery, full of psychological warfare, can also be expected, in addition to Kendrick and Lively’s sizzling chemistry as they revive Stephanie and Emily’s opposites-attract dynamic. As anticipation for A Simple Favor 2 grows, Lively will be an important figure; in promoting the original film, she famously hid all the pictures on her widely-followed Instagram account to foreshadow the first teaser trailer released the next day.
