PETALING JAYA: The rise of Selangor’s young midfielder Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi in the Super League has been nothing short of meteoric.
The former national Under-19 captain was injured when he was signed last year from PKNP to play for the Red Giants’ feeder team but this year, he shone in the pre-season that saw him being promoted to the first team.
What makes him an asset is his ability to play in any area in midfield, as the club have used him as a winger, playmaker and defensive midfielder. “I’m delighted to get minutes in the top division. I’m not starting all the games, but I’m fine with being rotated week in, week out. I eventually hope to be a regular next season.
He pointed out that his recent good run was due to the good team camaraderie and advice from his mentor Norhakim Hassan, who was formerly a key player for Perak from 2017 to 2019.
