Occupying the famed Market Hall corner in Rockridge, ACRE Restaurant is slated for a fall opening.

end of the Oakland farm-to-table restaurant after 35 yearsACRE Restaurant will offer “an ingredient-driven menu that incorporates flavors from around the Mediterranean with California at its heart,” a press release stated. Slated to open this fall in the famed Market Hall building, ACRE is the brainchild of industry veterans chef-owner Dirk Tolsma and managing partner Pete Sittnick.

The menu will revolve around the original wood-fired hearth and stone oven and will include market-based flatbreads, shareable-veggie forward plates, chilled local seafood and meat dishes from the wood-fired rotisserie. Like Oliveto, there will be seasonal favorites that make annual repeat appearances

A little about Tolsma: He spent years running top-notch restaurants in the North Bay, including Barrel House Tavern in Sausalito and Eloise Restaurant in Sebastopol, as well as Baker and Banker in San Francisco. Tolsma first connected with Sittnick at EPIC Steak, where he served as the chef de cuisine and Sittnick was managing partner.
