Felix DeJesus, 41, was last seen Feb. 2 in Paterson, according to local police and family.
The search so far has included family, friends and community members handing out flyers, canvassing different parts of Passaic and Bergen counties and posting on social media for people throughout New Jersey and New York to assist if they have any information on his whereabouts.
Besides starting a search of the Passaic River — embarking from Fair Lawn — Giovanni said family has consistently shared missing posters online in the event someone outside of Passaic and Bergen Counties may know where he is. Giovanni DeJesus said his brother has visited Paterson in the past and has had previous encounters with the police while out drinking. He said the family learned of Felix’s interaction with the police officers from speaking with a bodega owner while they were out distributing flyers.According to the statement, Felix was described as a Hispanic male, 5 foot 9 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. He has “a large Puerto Rican flag tattoo on his chest,” police officials said.
Giovanni said the family has not been able to receive clarity from police over Felix’s interaction with officers the night he disappeared. He also said the family is attempting to obtain the police body camera footage of his brothers’ exchange outside of the Paterson store since it was among the last places he was seen.
