Manaav Gupta is the 18-year-old host of “Manaav’s Sports Talk,” a YouTube sports show covering the NBA, MLB and NFL. He lives with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a genetic disorder resulting in muscle degeneration over time, and regularly receives medical care at Texas Children’s Hospital.Currently, Maanav’s Sports Talk has 819 subscribers on YouTube — and growing. Gupta also has more than 2,900 followers on Twitter.
His interview subjects read like a sports hall of fame list: Former Texan J.J. Watt; Houston Dynamo winger Fabrice-Jean"Fafà" Picault; Rockets legend Mario Elie.“He’s a bit of a budding legend,’ said Gillaspia, whom Gupta reached out to for an interview in February. “He’s actually already out there doing it - and I think that will make him a success in the future,” Gillaspia said.
“I’m just going to keep going and get more experience,” he said. “ Hopefully one day, I’ll be a play-by-play broadcaster.”Last December, Gupta commented on a social media post about MDA spokesperson Nyheim Hines, a running back for the Colts. Since then, Guta has been dedicated to promoting the group’s mission to empower people with muscular dystrophy to live longer, more independent lives.
