Author Natasha Tynes publicly shamed a black Metro employee for eating on the train. Now people are criticizing her for shaming the woman and attempting to get her fired.

Passengers wait to board a Metro train. By Lindsey Bever Lindsey Bever General assignment reporter covering national and breaking news Email Bio Follow May 11 at 12:17 PM Author and World Bank employee Natasha Tynes has ignited a firestorm on social media, where she criticized a black Metro employee for eating on the train and reported the woman to transit officials.

The backlash was swift on Twitter, where people have been calling out the self-described “minority writer” for shaming a black woman and attempting to get her into trouble. Amid the uproar, she apologized, saying she was “truly sorry” for the tweet, which she acknowledged had been deleted. And by early Saturday morning, she had also set her account to private.

— Metrorail Info May 10, 2019 Tynes is the founder of Tynes Media Group and has written several pieces for The Post on parenting. She has not replied to requests for comment from The Post. “We think this is unacceptable and have no desire to be involved with anyone who thinks it’s acceptable to jeopardize a person’s safety and employment in this way.”California Coldblood said in a similar statement it was aware of what had occurred.“We do not condone her actions and hope Natasha learns from this experience that black women feel the effects of systematic racism the most and that we have to be allies, not oppressors,” the statement read.

Because of its support of Tynes, Unsuck DC Metro has lost hundreds of followers and been accused of being racist.
