Muslim convert shares his happiness of celebrating Christmas with family members.

“For me, being a Muslim means not shying away from your non-Muslim family members or sacrificing your relationship with them. In fact, I became a better son to my parents since I converted,” he told The Star when met at his home in Taman Pinggiran Alma in Bukit Mertajam on the Penang mainland. “My parents, who are devout Protestants, will usually go to church to pray on Christmas Day. My family and I will then wait at home for them to return from church before feasting on a halal meal together,” he said, adding that both his mother and father stay with him.Chooi Beng’s wife Ema Ariani Komar Rozaman, 42, who is an Indonesian, said she had been celebrating Christmas as a sign of respect to her parents-in-law.
