889 inmates from Bentong and Penor Prisons in Pahang, Malaysia, were released early in 2023 under the Licensed Release of Prisoners Programme (PBSL) and the Ihsan Madani “A Long-Awaited Return” initiative. The programme aims to reduce prison overcrowding and allow inmates to reunite with their families during festive celebrations.
