Nationals MP Darren Chester says it has been “an extraordinary 72 hours in Gippsland” after bushfires and flash-flooding have swept through the region.\n\nMr Chester joined Sky News Australia to talk about the spread of extreme weather-related incidents across his electorate.\n\n“It has been an incredibly diverse 72 hours or so and we are very thankful for the emergency services,” he said.\n\n“Flood events are not unusual in Gippsland but coming hot on the heels of a bushfire, it is something I haven’t seen before.\n\n“I’m in Mallacoota today catching up with residents – I had a pre-existing commitment for a bushfire prevention meeting, meantime, at the other end of my electorate, we are having flood meetings.”
