Radio host Stephen Cenatiempo says the claims of racism and maltreatment from Indigenous players at Hawthorn, which date back to its triple-premiership years, seem to be “part of a broader problem” in the AFL.

“I wonder if it is just an easy way to play the politics that go on inside these organisations,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “It is just an easy way to call somebody an ‘ist’ or a ‘phobe’ to tarnish the people you want to have a crack at. “Maybe there needs to be a broader inquiry on what is actually going on right across the AFL if these complaints keep popping up.”
