For the most fanatic friars, they aren’t letting Tuesday’s loss dampen their spirit. The group that calls themselves the 7th Deck Faithfuls watch every game from the deck of the Legend Condos in the Gaslamp. It’s the only residential high-rise situated inside the gates of Petco Park. For Ruben Aguilera, cheering on the Padres with his neighbors over the years has turned the group into family.
“It’s the heart, we were the only fans getting to watch in 2020. It’s the community, the camaraderie, all of the neighbors and the whole building itself— it’s so exciting,” Aguilera said. “It’s a family-oriented building, we feed off their energy and we give it right back.” The 7th Deck Faithfuls enjoy some great views, but an even better atmosphere. Aguilera described what it’s like to cheer on the Padres as they advance to the NLCS after difficult years cheering on the team.
“It’s euphoric, it’s a great feeling. It’s something the whole community has been waiting for,” Aguilera said. “I am just so glad for this city and for the fans.”Categories
