The private equity group backing the local low-cost carrier has diverted at least one jet after its Flair Airlines subsidiary had four Boeing 737s seized.
777 Partners, the Miami-based private equity group backing new low-cost airline Bonza, is redirecting a jet originally meant for the Australian carrier to the firm’s Canadian budget outfit Flair Airlines.
“Whilst it was registered VH-UDV, we never took delivery of that specific aircraft and this doesn’t impact any of Bonza’s plans. It’s not uncommon for this to happen as part of fleet planning,” the spokeswoman said. “Such a decision is never taken lightly. In this case, following numerous notices to Flair, it again failed to make payments when due and Airborne took steps to terminate the leasing of the aircraft,” the group, a specialist in aircraft leasing, said in a statement.
