71 soldiers killed in deadliest jihadist attack on Niger military

HUNDREDS of jihadists attacked a Niger military camp near the border with Mali with shelling and mortars, killing 71 soldiers, said the Defence Ministry yesterday. The Tuesday assault in Inates, in the western Tillaberi region, is the deadliest on Niger’s military since the country’s Islamist militant violence began in 2015.
