SEVEN Filipinos in Gaza Strip have remained unaccounted for amid the ongoing conflict in Israel due to attacks by the Hamas terrorist group.The Department of Foreign Affairs said Monday evening, October 9, 2023, that according to the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv, 29 Filipinos were initially reported to have been missing but it was verified that 22 of them have already been rescued by Israeli security forces.The rescued Filipinos were brought to a safer area.
It is not confirmed yet if the DFA and Owwa are referring to the same individuals.In a television interview on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, Israel Ambassador to the Philippines Ilan Fluss said the Israeli government is committed for the well-being of Filipinos and other nationals living in their country, the same way they are committed for the protection of their fellow nationals.
