Several multimillion-dollar developments across Fishers will kick into full gear in 2023.

building on the small airport’s property to house its research and technology branch, Andretti Technologies. The complex will also have an indoor amphitheater, a museum, an innovation center and restaurant.

Andretti said it will hire 500 employees and bring a total of 1,000 jobs to the area with an annual payroll of $100 million. The project fulfills most of Fishers’ plan to lease out open areas of the airport, which is owned by the Indianapolis Airport Authority. The 8,500-seat arena will be the home of the Indy Fuel minor league hockey team, which now plays at the Indiana State Fair’s Indiana Farmer’s Coliseum. The venue will also host 125 to 150 events a year. The city will build and own the center at a cost of $170 million, financed by a series of bonds, and the Fuel will rent it.which will generate $3.2 million a year in extra tax collections.

The arena is part of a larger, $550 million investment by developer Thompson Thrift, which plans apartments, a hotel, an office building and restaurants and shops at the site.
