COVID-19 | Health Ministry says 56 of the new cases are locally acquired infections while six are imported.

| Malaysia has reported 62 new cases of Covid-19 in the 24 hours up to noon today, which is the highest single-day increase since the recovery movement control order was implemented.

The last time the country recorded more cases was on June 4 where 277 cases were reported in a single day. The recovery MCO was implemented beginning June 10. The Health Ministry said 56 of the new cases today are locally acquired infections while six are imported. Of the local cases, 50 of them are part of the Benteng LD in Sabah where an outbreak has been detected at Tawau Prison and the Lahad Datu district police headquarters.
